Type 81 SAM-1C

Description

The Type 81 SAM-1C is a Japanese-made short-range surface-to-air missile (SAM). It is also known as the Tan-SAM Kai. It is a phased array active radar guided missile with the capability of receiving mid-course guidance updates from the Fire Control Systems vehicle.

The Type 81 SAM-1C has a range of up to 14 kilometers and a speed of Mach 2.78. It is equipped with a contact and radar proximity fuse. The warhead is a fragmentation type warhead with an explosive mass of 9.2 kilograms.

The Type 81 SAM-1C is used by the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) to defend against low-altitude air threats, such as aircraft, helicopters, and drones.
